Why does mistral ocr have no good way of using it? Like why can’t I just go to their website and ocr some pdfs? I guess the world just needs a cli tool that uses it. Maybe I will let claude build a go implementation and just use that. It is really annoying. I just want markdown!
I was really disappointed in layover finder. Unfortunately it didn’t have any advantage over using skyscanner. But I was convinced by my coworker that I should publish this somehow. So I am looking for an application of this idea, or data, that is unique enough that it can be used. One idea is to improve this by adding more airports, so that we can find the actual optimal route. I doubt that we would find anything better than this to be honest. But flight prices fluctuate so much even during the same day, so I can’t be sure really. But it is really hard to search with actual criteria. Like I don’t want to search for 30 hour flights with 3 layover, but I am okay with the layovers being 2 days. Maybe this can solve that problem. ...

Airlines are weird. You would expect that a direct flight should generally be cheaper than one with a layover, especially if you want to go to the city of the layover. This is not the case. I had been thinkign about a trip to China for the last year. Usually flying to the city you want to go to is not the cheapest option. For example a direct flight from Budapest to Shenzhen is more expensive than a flight from Budapest to Xi’an with a Shenzhen layover. Even if you are boarding the same plane. You can just buy the layover ticket and act like you missed your transfer. This is called skiplagging and airlines don’t like it. There is a website called skiplagged that searches for those flights with the layover in the city you want. They get sued quite often apparently. ...
